Our Story – Mike and Melinda Cobb started their mechanical contracting business in New Mexico in 1982. Mike’s background included mechanical, controls, and business management experience gained during his employment at Honeywell from the early 1970’s until he opened the doors of his new mechanical contracting business. The Cobb’s number one priority was family. Mike’s skills and abilities allowed him to perform government contract work for Holloman AFB and White Sands Missile Range and various state, county, and city administrative facilities.
These types of business opportunities allowed the Cobb’s to raise their family in the small mountain resort village of Ruidoso New Mexico. Melinda often laughs while telling the story that the village was so small, she knew if her children were in any kind of trouble before they did, during their school years.Friends and associates in the Dallas/ Fort Worth metroplex, promoting the healthy business climate in the area at the time, spent years trying to convince Mike and Melinda to set up business in the DFW area. So with the family raised and gone their own ways, Mike and Melinda migrated to DFW in 1999 starting a new Texas Corporation known today as Sudden Service. Within two short years, all of the children moved to DFW also, to be close to their parents.
Sudden Service is a family operated business. Mike is the President and responsible for all operations of the company. Melinda is responsible for all accounting and office management, a job she has performed flawlessly for over 30 years. Son Shaun is the lead HVAC tech and has been in the industry and family business for 19 years. Son-in-law Justin has worked with the company for over 5 years. Daughter Kelsey has worked as a customer service representative for several years. All others who work for Sudden Service are considered to be like family as well. Our employees are our number one asset. Dignity and respect are words that we work and live by. We take good care of our customers and value them as we would our own family.

We like to think of ourselves a “Provider of Comfort”. At Sudden Service, we strive to deliver the “WOW” factor to our customers. We research it, we fix it, and we educate our customers while nurturing relationships and developing lifelong friendships along the way.
